Create a segment after uploading customers
To create an anniversary segment:
- In the Engagement section, go to Customers.
- Click Add filter and select Creation date.
- Specify what time period should make the customer eligible to join the segment.
You may create a number of different anniversaries and follow-up emails based on the Creation Date filter, such as :
- weekly anniversary – the created date is exactly 7 days ago,
- monthly anniversary – the created date is exactly 30 days ago,
- yearly anniversary – the created date is exactly 365 days ago [variation selected for the tutorial],
- a follow-up email after 3 months – the created date is exactly 90 days ago.
Generate gift cards
Next, create gift cards.
- In Campaign Hub, go to Campaigns
- Click Create campaign and select Gift Vouchers.
- Choose Bulk codes.
- Name your campaign and provide other information (voucher number, auto-update campaign*, code pattern).
Check the Auto-Update box to ensure that new vouchers are automatically generated in case you run out of the original pool of codes.
- Define the optional time limits.
- Establish a gift credits value.
The currency of your campaigns is set per project.
Campaign Calendar
Once you save your campaign or save it as a draft, you can see when it will be active in the Campaign Calendar in the Marketer Hub sidebar section. The Campaign Calendar shows an overview of all campaigns and their timeframes and additional information when you click on a given campaign bar.
Build validation rules
You can also add validation rules to ensure that only selected customers are eligible to use the gift card.
These are the rules used in this specific workflow:
- Customer segment is "1-year anniversary"
- Valid only for orders above $250
- By using only for customers who are holders of the card, you ensure that the voucher is redeemed by the same person it was published for (sent to).
You can add custom error messages to failed redemption attempts that will be returned in the API.
In the last step, provide optional metadata to your campaign.
Send gift cards to customers
- In Engagement, go to Distributions.
- Click Create Distribution.
- In Trigger, choose Customer entered segment and select the segment created in the first step of this guide.
- In Action, choose Send and publish unique codes from campaign and select the campaign gift card campaign created earlier.
- In Channels, choose email as your marketing channel. You can combine multiple channels within one distribution.
- You can use Voucherify as your email provider or use your own email provider.
- Next, proceed to design your mail.
- Use the Preview Option to make sure that the email is going to look the way you want it to.
- Use variables to include codes, customer names, and other unique customer attributes in your message to make it feel more personal.
- Try adding an image or play with colors to ensure your email stands out.
- Optionally, create email reminders to notify customers about unredeemed vouchers.
Here's an example of an email that you can create.
- In Summary, check if all distribution details are correct. If yes, click Save & Send.
Well done! Now your customers can celebrate your anniversary by going shopping.
